Featuring themes of romance, plenty of gorgeous guys, and an abundance of utterly wild plots, these games are just as likely to have you chuckling to yourself in glee as they are to get you hot under the collar. This is already a huge red flag; the anime struggles to stand on its own two feet and functions better as a supplement to the game experience. For people who aren’t into mobage, I think the series is going to be pretty forgettable and, unfortunately, fails as a gateway into the franchise. Depending on whether or not you’re already a fan of the games and are familiar with the story and characters, your enjoyment of this anime is likely going to be extremely skewed.
A fun and enjoyable idol/rhythm game
Is a touch-and-go, card-collecting game created by Happy Elements of Merc Storia fame, and the younger brother series to Happy Elements’ earlier mobile game, Ensemble Girls!. Its main attraction is a Cast Full of Pretty Boys performing various idol activities, with a story involved as background to many of the cast. Despite its colorful art style and setting, the story is much darker than one would initially assume. Then there’s the issue of how the performances are handled using 3D models. I think the only idol anime that really does a great job at blending 3D models into 2D cuts during performance sequences is the Idolmaster franchise, but that’s a conversation for another time.
This makes the gameplay a challenge as you attempt to increase your stats while also potentially blocking out players from entering a certain area of the map. It’s after selecting a specific area of the school you’ll get to chat with the potential love interest and attempt to woo them into a potential relationship in time for the upcoming prom. Come on you knew we had to put this game on here since it just came out in 2019 and chances are if you’re just getting into dating simulators you might have missed the game launch. KFC was putting out quite a few unique marketing attempts to get people into their chain restaurant with this dating simulator being quite unusual. Another visual novel you might find of interest is Everlasting Summer. This game is centered around an ordinary young man named Semyon.
There have been many mainstream dating sims that have caught players’ attention such as Hooked On You which explores the killers of Dead By Daylight and Blush Blush. You can fully customize your character at the start of the game and then meet a ton of interesting people and dating prospects that the Funplex arcade, including cosplayers, gamers, and more colorful types. The setting and the visuals make for a really cool vibe that stands out in a sea of dating sims. These characters will sometimes appear together in themed events or gacha based on their units.
